Freeze the exact model and first symptom
Record bottom-label model and product number, MAC address, installed PVOS, power source, network interface, provisioning owner, physical key and page, attached module and accessory. State the first mismatch: wrong layout, missing Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, failed network, absent module, reboot, unregistered account or failed call.
Redact credentials, telephone numbers, Wi-Fi secrets, certificates and packet payloads. Preserve state before a reset or template change.
Stop at the model or radio mismatch
E300 and E400 have neither Bluetooth nor Wi-Fi. E320 has Bluetooth but not Wi-Fi. E450 has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Firmware does not add absent radio hardware.
Compare the physical label with inventory, provisioned software model and local menus before changing network policy or credentials.
Reconcile physical keys, pages and intended assignments
E300 and E320 have eight physical keys and up to 32 assignments across four pages. E400 and E450 add six secondary keys whose 12 assignments span two pages, while their eight primary keys span four. Capture page, key, category, value, label, owner and observed state.
Keys, SIP identities, BLF or presence targets and simultaneous calls are not interchangeable.
Trace power, network, provisioning and registration in order
Prove PoE or approved local power, LAN-versus-PC cabling, Ethernet or authorized Wi-Fi association, VLAN or SSID, address, gateway, DNS, time, configuration request, response, apply event and effective state before SIP.
Then preserve registration, signaling and media on the same attempt. A link, association or downloaded file is not a completed call.
Verify expansion and accessory power separately
E300 and E320 do not support the Poly Edge E Expansion Module. E400 and E450 support one module with 22 physical keys across three pages and up to 66 assignments. Record module attachment, power, enumeration, firmware and page state.
Inventory USB-C, headset and module loads together. A visible module or paired headset does not prove assignments, call control or two-way audio.
Retest the symptom under the approved PVOS lifecycle
HP lists PVOS 8.6.1 released August 2026. Preserve current and target builds, provider approval, artifact identity, backup, certificates, pilot and rollback before change. After one authorized correction, repeat the original key, radio, module, registration or call symptom.
Then test renewal, every required page, headset routing, transfer, DTMF, two-way media, power recovery, restart persistence and the emergency workflow. No phone or live workflow was tested for this diagnostic.
