Identify the exact Telstra product and ordered feature pack
Telstra presents SIP Connect for premise PBXs, with Business Lines and Business Trunks feature packages. The current product page describes Business Lines for two to eight voice lines and two to 32 direct-in-dial numbers, while Business Trunks targets medium-to-large sites with more than five lines and over 100 direct-in-dial numbers. Preserve the exact legal service name, order, site, feature pack, voice channels, numbers, access and support owner rather than choosing from a marketing description.
Keep Telstra SIP Connect distinct from Telstra Business SIP, TBS SIP Connect, SIP Complete, Telstra IP Telephony and hosted collaboration offers. The Business SIP Critical Information Summary says that product stopped new-customer sales on May 30, 2025; that statement is not copied to SIP Connect.
Documented service facts
Reviewed 2026-10-27. Compare SIP trunk services →
SIP authentication
Not verifiedThe public records do not establish one universal SIP identity, secret, certificate or source-address policy. The current order and confidential design govern.
SIP registration
Not verifiedA universal REGISTER requirement, registrar, proxy, expiry, refresh or Contact policy was not established for every SIP Connect design.
Numbers and inbound delivery
DocumentedCustomer terms document number blocks, working services, sharing constraints and portability. Allocation, programming, port completion, provider attempt, PBX match and completed call remain separate.
Continuity and restoration
DocumentedBusiness Continuity and BRS+ are documented optional packages; the product page also describes optional Shared Capacity. Account entitlement, configured policy, trigger, call result and restoration remain unverified.
Eligibility, access and sites
DocumentedThe terms define eligible access, accredited voice-system and local termination requirements. The selected site, access, feasibility, lead time and delivered demarcation remain unverified.
Bandwidth, codecs and audio
DocumentedThe terms recommend 100 Kbit/s uncontended bandwidth per Internet voice line in each direction. The selected codecs, DTMF, media ranges, packet behavior, decoding and audibility remain unverified.
Fax
Not verifiedThe reviewed public SIP Connect material does not establish T.38, passthrough, fallback, number mapping or completed pages for the selected order.
Transport and media protection
DocumentedThe terms state Internet Access Service voice packets are unencrypted. This is not generalized to every access type or segment, and observed protection was not established.
Channels and concurrency
DocumentedThe terms define feature-pack minima and purchase increments for simultaneous calls. Ordered channels, attempts per second, active dialogs, PBX resources and bandwidth remain account-specific.
Emergency-service evidence
DocumentedThe terms warn that eligible-access interruption may prevent calls including 000 and that Internet access is unsuitable for priority-assistance users with life-threatening conditions. Account readiness remains unverified.
Pricing and term
Not verifiedProduct examples and contract charges are dated and conditional. The current application, quote, taxes, term, implementation and optional-package charges govern.
CPE, support and incidents
DocumentedTelstra publishes an integration guide, accredited-CPE list and 24x7 SIP Connect help desk. Installed status, case priority, response, restoration and customer retest remain separate.
SMS and MMS
Not verifiedThe reviewed SIP Connect records do not establish SMS or MMS on trunk numbers, sender registration, API access, retention or price.
Bind eligibility, access and CPE to the current order
The June 3, 2024 customer terms require an eligible access service maintained separately and a Telstra-accredited voice system. The public support page publishes an integration guide and an accredited-CPE list. A product page, name in a spreadsheet, accepted application, installed software version, loaded configuration and completed call remain different states.
The order and confidential design must establish the selected IP WAN, IP MAN, broadband or other eligible access, site termination, addressing, routing, quality policy, PBX or IAD handoff and responsibility. Do not copy Business SIP NTU instructions, addresses, credentials, registration behavior or router examples into SIP Connect.
Keep channel, number and porting evidence separate
The customer terms describe a minimum of five simultaneous-call channels per Business Trunks site and two per Business Lines site, with additional capacity bought in the stated increments. Those contractual minima do not establish one account's ordered channels, active dialogs, calls per second, bandwidth, PBX capacity or call quality.
The terms also describe number blocks, working services, cross-site sharing subject to exchange-area and feasibility conditions, and local number portability. Allocation, transfer or port authorization, provider programming, port completion, inbound attempt, PBX receipt, route match and completed call must be recorded independently.
Treat network and media values as design inputs
The contract recommends 100 Kbit/s of uncontended bandwidth per voice line in each direction for Internet access and warns that packet loss, variable delay and throughput can affect quality. The integration guide documents the approved signaling and media design for SIP Connect. These are design inputs, not measurements of one access path or proof of audible quality.
Reachability, routing, SIP exchange, dialog establishment, SDP, packet directions, decoding and audible result remain separate. The terms say voice packets traversing Internet Access Services are unencrypted; do not generalize that clause to every access type, product or segment, and do not claim protection without order-specific and observed evidence.
Keep continuity products and outcomes distinct
The SIP Connect terms list Business Continuity and Telstra Business Resumption Service + among optional packages. BRS+ separately documents preconfigured network-based redirection plans, bulk forwarding, activation, rollback and history through its portal. A public feature, purchased entitlement, configured plan, authorized activation, successful number update, provider route, destination alert and completed call are separate checkpoints.
Shared Capacity, PBX failover, access redundancy, number diversion and BRS+ are not interchangeable. A successful new diverted call does not establish that an existing dialog survived, that every number moved, or that restoration to the primary path completed.
Make emergency, support and commercial facts time-bound
The terms warn that interruption of the underlying eligible access can prevent SIP Connect operation and emergency calls such as 000, and say Internet Access Service is unsuitable for people requiring priority assistance for life-threatening conditions. Preserve service address, presented identity, callback, route, power, access dependency and an approved non-live validation process; do not place an uncoordinated emergency call.
The support page documents a 24x7 SIP Connect help desk, but a support surface is not proof of incident priority, account entitlement, restoration or service level. Product-page price examples and contract charges are time-sensitive and conditional; obtain a current quote and order rather than treating them as a universal price.
