Grandstream HT802 V2 or HT818 V2 has missing ports, wrong network mode or failed firmware

Find the first mismatch in exact V2 identity, expected port count, single-interface versus routed topology, profile mapping, provisioning or firmware binary family.

Reviewed 2026-10-24Grandstream exact-model HT802 V2 and HT818 V2 product pages and datasheets, current HT80x V2 and HT81x V2 administration and user guides, and firmware 1.0.15.3 release notes dated September 17, 2026 were reviewed October 24, 2026. Exact V2 model, hardware, component versions, firmware binary family, network topology, FXS port, profile, identity, registration, hunting role, analog behavior, signaling, media, fax mode, provisioning state and accepted service remain separate evidence. Published firmware and management capabilities do not prove the installed build, provider approval, successful change, compatibility, capacity or availability. No adapter, analog device, cable, line condition, network, VLAN, router, account, PBX, packet, call, fax, image, checksum, price, inventory, support entitlement or vendor response was inspected or testedIntermediateDocumentation based · not lab tested

Freeze the exact model and first missing state

Record the printed model, part and hardware identifiers, serial or MAC, program and component versions, visible and configured port count, power state, connected Ethernet interfaces, operating mode, provisioning owner and first missing behavior. Redact credentials, telephone numbers, certificates and packet payloads.

HT802 V2 should lead to a two-FXS, single-10/100-interface investigation; HT818 V2 should lead to an eight-FXS, dual-Gigabit routed-topology investigation. Stop if the observed unit does not match the assumed model.

Reconcile physical ports with status and profile mapping

HT802 V2 has two FXS ports; HT818 V2 has eight. Both document two SIP profiles. Capture every expected port’s LED or status, attached analog device, assigned profile, SIP User ID, Authenticate ID, registration and hunting role.

A missing GUI row, dark LED, dial tone or call through a hunting member proves different things. Preserve the first divergence before copying configuration or resetting the unit.

Choose the correct network branch

For HT802 V2, verify the one 10/100 Ethernet link, switch port, VLAN source, address, gateway, DNS and time; do not search for a second LAN or WAN interface. For HT818 V2, verify both physical roles, router or bridge behavior, NAT boundary and upstream route.

Link, IP address, provisioning reachability, registration and media are separate outcomes. Interface speed does not prove routed throughput.

Trace provisioning into effective state

Record the authoritative GDMS, TR-069, XML, server or local owner; requested URL and file; response; matched model variables; apply or reboot event; and effective port, profile and network values. A successful download can still target the wrong model, lose to another source or fail to become active.

Change one owner and one proven mismatch at a time, preserving the prior configuration and recovery path.

Match the firmware binary before any retry

Release 1.0.15.3 assigns ht80xv2fw.bin to HT801 V2 and HT802 V2, and ht81xv2fw.bin to HT812 V2, HT814 V2 and HT818 V2. Confirm exact filename, release-record checksum and current component versions; do not cross-load the families or borrow original-model firmware.

The published release is not proof of provider approval, successful transfer or installed state. Respect the unsupported downgrade boundary from 1.0.9.3 or later to 1.0.7.5 or earlier.

Retest the original symptom and downstream service

After an authorized correction, verify expected port count, LEDs and status, network topology, effective image, template revision, every relevant port/profile mapping and registration. Then repeat the original analog workflow plus inbound and outbound calls, DTMF, caller ID, two-way audio, restart and any required fax negotiation.

For HT818 V2, treat a GR-909 result as bounded line-test evidence rather than service acceptance. One restored port does not establish fleet compatibility, capacity, availability or support. No live equipment or service was tested for this diagnostic.
