Wireless removes one cable, not dependencies
A Wi-Fi desk phone still requires power and a reliable path to the PBX or hosted provider. A desk with poor Ethernet access may be a good candidate, but the presence of a Wi-Fi logo says little about busy-hour audio quality.
Verify the exact wireless implementation
Check supported bands, authentication methods and whether wireless is built in or requires a compatible accessory. Verify enterprise authentication and certificate enrollment if your network uses them. Features differ between models in the same family.
Test where the person works
Measure call behavior at the intended desk and along movement paths. Test during normal competing traffic, with doors closed and with the headset in use. Coverage, interference, airtime and roaming are separate causes of interruptions; stronger signal alone cannot resolve all of them.

Design an operating fallback
Document a supported wired option or alternate calling device for an outage. Plan firmware updates without disrupting busy periods and confirm how a changed wireless password reaches the fleet. For mobile workers, compare DECT and Wi-Fi on the complete coverage and support model rather than device price alone.
