Grandstream WP810 vs WP820: what a Wi-Fi roaming trial can tell you

The player loads only when you choose Watch here. Playback uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed; YouTube processes playback data.

Why this is useful

Chris compares two cordless Wi-Fi phones and describes walking a live call across his home access points. The most useful part is the reported interruption during handoffs and his explicit warning that another network may behave differently. Read the roaming guide beside it to separate coverage, registration and media continuity when designing your own acceptance test.

Applicability

Legacy

Historical WP810/WP820 comparison. Firmware, embedded software, availability and quoted prices belong to the recording period.

Keep in mind

  • Roaming and audio observations are the creator’s reported tests; we have not independently reproduced or listened to them.
  • A successful home walk test does not establish reliable operation in a warehouse, hospital or crowded office.
  • The outgoing video-call problem remains unresolved in this demonstration. Do not infer general video interoperability.

Before you watch

A spare Wi-Fi handset, an authorized test network and a second caller.

Put it into practice

Define a walking route through your actual coverage boundaries. On an authorized test call, record dropouts and registration changes, then repeat inbound and outbound calls after the phone has been idle.
