Understand what the package contains

The DC201 combines a DB20 DECT base with one D10 handset. The base connects to the IP network while the handset communicates over DECT. It is a different architecture from a Wi-Fi desk phone. Evaluate it when a small number of staff need to carry their extension between nearby work areas.

Separate handset enrollment from active calls

Sangoma documents up to twenty enrolled handsets and up to five simultaneous calls. The detailed datasheet narrows capacity to four audio channels when using G.729. Do not size a twenty-person calling team as though every enrolled handset could make a call at the same time. Check the negotiated codec and likely overlap before planning trunk capacity.

Survey the actual work area

The advertised indoor range is up to fifty meters and the handset talk time up to eight hours. These are manufacturer figures, not measurements in your building. Walk the intended route, including storage rooms, doors and stairwells, while talking to a second test endpoint. Check regional base compatibility and charging habits; a static coverage check does not prove a full shift will remain usable.

Verify the system-level integration

The datasheet documents provisioning with supported Sangoma PBXs and TLS/SRTP on the IP side. Validate the exact firmware, provisioning ownership and account mapping, then test incoming calls to two handsets, transfer and simultaneous use at the intended codec. Do not infer multi-cell roaming, emergency-location handling or interoperability with arbitrary DECT handsets from the enrollment limit.
