HP Poly Studio V72 USB video bar

Evaluate Studio V72 as a large-room USB camera, microphone and speaker peripheral while preserving host, port, LLN-camera, expansion-audio, privacy, room and firmware boundaries.

Studio V72: manufacturer-sourced facts
SpecificationDocumented value
System boundaryUSB camera, microphone and speaker peripheral for a PC-based or BYOD room; the attached host and meeting application own session identity and service behavior Source ↗
CameraManufacturer specifies dual 4K 20 MP cameras with 120-degree wide and 70-degree narrow horizontal fields of view; installed framing remains a room acceptance result Source ↗
Room planningCurrent product and room guides position V72 for large rooms and publish a maximum 25 ft planning distance; one hardware-guide introduction instead says huddle and small rooms, so the conflict remains visible Source ↗
Host data pathThe supplied USB-C path connects the bar to a computer, which should enumerate separate camera, microphone and speaker choices Source ↗
HDMI and audio portsHDMI output is for provisioning support; HDMI input and 3.5 mm line input and output are listed as unsupported Source ↗
USB-A and LLNUSB-A ports are disabled by default; the documented LLN topology has model-specific camera, power and switch constraints and cannot be mixed with USB cameras Source ↗
Expansion audioThe hardware guide supports one Poly Expansion Table microphone and says it cannot be combined with other external microphones Source ↗
Current firmware recordHP lists VideoOS Lite 1.7, released June 2026, as a maintenance release for V52 and V72; installed-version and update-path checks remain required Source ↗

Unlisted fields remain unverified. Platform compatibility and remaining support life require confirmation for the exact ordered model.

Classify V72 as a USB host peripheral

Studio V72 provides camera, microphone and speaker functions to an attached computer. The host operating system, meeting application, account and tenant own sign-in, meeting identity, policy and session behavior. Do not transfer built-in application, SIP or controller assumptions from the visually similar Studio X72.

Record the exact V72 label, regional SKU and package, host and OS, meeting client, tenant, USB path, displays, mounting, management network and installed VideoOS Lite version before assessing fit.

Keep host, provisioning and accessory paths separate

The supplied USB-C link is the host media path. Ethernet provides access to management functions. HP lists HDMI output for provisioning support, while HDMI input and the 3.5 mm line input and output are unsupported; connector presence is not proof of content ingest or external analogue audio.

USB-A ports are disabled by default. Enabling them does not establish compatibility. The documented Bluetooth workflow pairs the remote control; a paired remote is not evidence of a Bluetooth host-audio path.

Model the V72 peripheral topology exactly

The hardware guide says the LLN port does not provide power. It documents one Poly IP LLN camera through a PoE injector or two through a supported, specifically configured Netgear AV Line switch, and says IP LLN and USB cameras cannot be connected together. Preserve the exact camera, power, switch and configuration evidence.

The guide also supports one Poly Expansion Table microphone and says it cannot be combined with other external microphones. Treat each accessory, cable, power source, topology and software release as a separate compatibility record.

Use room specifications as planning inputs

HP publishes dual 4K 20 MP cameras, 120-degree wide and 70-degree narrow horizontal fields of view and a maximum 25 ft planning distance. Current product and room-preparation material position V72 for large rooms, while the hardware guide introduction calls it suitable for huddle and small rooms. Preserve that documentation conflict and resolve the intended room with the current regional product record.

Neither classification proves framing, pickup, echo control or intelligibility. Validate actual table geometry, mounting height, lighting, HVAC, reverberation, near and far seats, framing modes, microphone transmit, speaker receive and double-talk.

Interpret privacy, mute and status separately

The hardware guide says the motorized shutters open when the system powers or wakes and remain open during an active call when video is muted. A visible open shutter therefore does not by itself prove video transmission. Preserve the host preview, meeting-client video state and far-end result.

Likewise, LED state, microphone mute, camera activity and meeting participation are related observations, not interchangeable proof. Record the exact state before changing privacy, mute or camera settings.

Version updates and accept the end-to-end room

Use the current VideoOS Lite release notes for the installed build; HP lists 1.7 as a June 2026 maintenance release for V52 and V72. Preserve package source, power, management reachability, progress, restart and resulting version, and do not generalize a release-specific peripheral table to every build.

Then repeat host enumeration, explicit application selection, preview, meeting join, camera transmit, microphone receipt, speaker output, privacy, framing, leave, reboot and recovery. No V72, host, room, cable, accessory, network, firmware, meeting, media stream or call was inspected or tested for this reference.

Do not transfer V72 bar and accessory topology to E60

The Studio E60 reference is a camera-only USB or IP-LLN peripheral; it does not inherit V72 microphones, speakers or expansion-audio behavior.
