Freeze one phone, edition, build and symptom
Record the VP59 label, V1 marking when present, serial, MAC, firmware, application version, visible edition shell, organization or SIP account owner, network, time, camera, display and accessories. State one expected result and the first observed divergence.
Do not load firmware to discover what edition the phone should be. Establish approved source state, conversion authority, configuration backup and recovery path first. Preserve logs and redact credentials, tokens, certificates and personal data.
Prove power, boot, storage, network and time
Check the approved power supply or PoE switch port, link negotiation, boot sequence, restart pattern, available storage and exact build. Then record VLAN, LLDP, IP, gateway, DNS, time and certificate validity. For Wi-Fi, add SSID, band, BSSID, authentication and IP state.
A powered touchscreen or connected Wi-Fi icon does not prove the correct edition, service identity, registration or media. Keep Bluetooth pairing and wired network state separate from call-control evidence.
Separate edition shell, identity and service state
For Open SIP, compare intended account, server, transport, authentication, certificate and registration transaction. For Teams or Zoom, compare organization, user or device identity, enrollment, entitlement, policy and assigned calling service. A successful sign-in does not prove a number, line, route or media.
If the interface is unexpected, compare the rear label, installed build and approved edition record. Yealink says Teams and Zoom editions cannot operate simultaneously; that boundary does not authorize a SIP conversion or establish what data a conversion retains.
Control firmware or conversion without widening the fault
Compare the installed build with the release and change record for that exact edition and hardware. Open SIP’s cited V87 family record includes a no-downgrade-before-V87 caution. Teams and Zoom conversion uses a separate support procedure. Do not mix images, assume a rollback floor or infer license behavior across those paths.
Before an approved change, preserve configuration, account ownership, certificates, application data and recovery steps. Afterward, verify edition, build, provisioning, identity, registration or entitlement and each required feature. A completed upload or reboot is not a successful service result.
Trace camera, display, accessory and media directions
For video, retain camera identity, privacy-shutter position, permission, selected device, preview, encoded or sent state, remote receipt and returned video. For HDMI, retain cable, negotiated display mode and actual local output. For audio, compare handset, speakerphone, wired, USB and Bluetooth selection, mute, local capture, sent media, received media, decoding and audibility.
The 1080p, HDMI, USB and Bluetooth capability records do not prove an accessory is approved, selected or working. Change one path at a time and preserve both media directions.
Assign the first failed boundary and repeat
Assign one owner for power or PoE, hardware, edition and firmware, identity or entitlement, SIP account, provisioning, PKI, network, camera, display, accessory, signaling or media. Correct one controlled variable and repeat the same call or approved meeting scenario with the same evidence set.
Record before-and-after build, edition, identity, registration or entitlement, signaling, camera and audio paths. Expand only after the original symptom is repeatably resolved. No phone, firmware image, license, tenant, account, credential, certificate, application, camera, display, accessory, packet, call, meeting or media stream was inspected or tested.
