Choose a reproducible installation source
The current official guide describes authenticated SignalWire binary repositories and an alternative source-build path. Repository access requirements apply to packaged binaries; the open-source repository remains available separately. Confirm the operating-system release, architecture and available packages before following commands from a tutorial. Use a supported stable release and retain its exact version or source commit. The 1.11.3 release notes identify security fixes and removal of Debian 11 support; do not use a legacy installation guide as evidence of current platform support.
Separate installation from service exposure
Prepare a dedicated host or isolated test environment, administrative access, DNS, time and backup storage. Review repository keys and installation scripts before execution. Keep repository credentials protected and out of shell history, shared logs and configuration examples. Install the modules and sound assets required by the intended configuration. A running core process does not prove a SIP profile, codec or application module is available. Inspect startup errors and the actual loaded module set before configuring a provider.
Validate a small calling path
First verify the service and console, then the intended SIP listener and two restricted test identities. Make internal calls, check both media directions and inspect cleanup. Add a provider only after local routing and permissions are understood. Record configuration paths, service ownership, module versions and observed results. Before production exposure, replace demonstration identities, restrict management interfaces and test restoration on a separate host. If FusionPBX will own the system, use its documented deployment path and compatibility requirements rather than installing two competing configuration owners.
