Why this is useful
The narration maps an existing PBX extension to the phone’s SIP server, user ID, authentication ID and password fields. It then checks the registration result on both the handset and PBX, a useful contrast with automatic template-based provisioning.
Applicability
Version-specificGRP2615 and UCM6302 example. The extension number and authentication ID match in this demonstration; other services may assign different values.
Keep in mind
- SIP credentials are different from the phone’s web administrator password.
- Successful registration does not prove working inbound routing or two-way media.
Before you watch
Use an authorized test extension and the exact account details issued by the PBX administrator.
Put it into practice
Write down the role of each account field without copying a real password into shared notes. After applying a test account, verify inbound and outbound calls and audio. If registration fails, investigate the response before repeatedly changing unrelated network settings.
