Freeze one product, client and symptom
Record whether the surface identifies itself as NextivaONE or NEXT, then capture tenant, user, extension, phone number, desktop, web or mobile path, operating system or browser, installed build, network, local and UTC time, direction, destination and the first visible symptom. Redact credentials, tokens, locations and unrelated caller data.
Separate sign-in rejection, missing calling controls, outbound setup failure, provider attempt routed elsewhere, no foreground alert, no background wake, silent ringer, answer failure, answered call without audio, wrong device and poor audio. Do not combine a desk phone, browser, desktop app and mobile result into one observation.
Prove product identity, account and voice assignment
Confirm the exact product family and sign-in surface before following instructions. NEXT desktop documentation requires an active NEXT account and existing NEXT web access; that does not establish NextivaONE access or a migration. For NextivaONE, confirm the intended account, active user, license, extension, number and voice-service assignment.
A successful generic Nextiva sign-in can coexist with the wrong tenant, product, user or voice assignment. Preserve the failing response and administrator state before resetting credentials, reinstalling software or changing network policy.
Inspect call handling before blaming the client
For the exact timestamp, inspect business hours, Do Not Disturb, forwarding, simultaneous ring, shared appearances, queues, call-center state, voicemail and any another-device calling setting. Preserve the provider attempt and final answering endpoint.
NextivaONE Presence guidance says Do Not Disturb silences notifications and prevents call pop-ups. A call-history row, notification badge or voicemail proves a service-side record, not that the affected client was alerted or able to answer.
Compare foreground, background and update state
For mobile, compare the same controlled inbound call with the app foregrounded, backgrounded and the device locked while preserving platform permission, notification delivery, app wake, alert and answer separately. For a tablet browser, retain the documented inactive-tab limitation rather than treating it as native mobile behavior.
Check the app-reported build and update owner. A background update prompt or downloaded installer is not running-process evidence. Do not apply NEXT release notes to NextivaONE unless the exact product and version mapping is established by first-party account or support evidence.
Trace network, device selection and two-way media
Use current Nextiva network guidance for the selected path, then prove DNS, route, VPN, firewall, SIP ALG, service connection, call attempt and media independently. Another-network success narrows the boundary but does not identify the original firewall, ISP or Wi-Fi system as the cause.
Record operating-system defaults, NextivaONE microphone, speaker and ringer, attachment, permission, level meter and speaker-chime result. For the failed call, retain both packet directions, decoding and what each party heard. A local test, successful answer or apparently normal call state does not prove two-way audible media.
Correct one owner and preserve support evidence safely
Assign the first divergence to one owner: product family, identity, entitlement, extension, build, update lane, call handling, background delivery, network, local device, signaling, media or support evidence. Change one controlled variable and repeat the same product, client path, number, network and direction plus one unaffected control.
Treat a periodic NextivaONE call rating as user feedback, not diagnosis. If support requests a HAR or local desktop logs, collect only the authorized occurrence window, sanitize credentials and unnecessary caller data, transmit it through the approved channel and retain submission separately from support findings and verified restoration. No account, app, device, network, packet, call, media, feedback, log or support response was inspected or tested.
